Stop Chasing Other Versions of You

Have you ever noticed how often we hold ourselves to impossible standards?

We expect to always be at our peak—our most productive, energetic, successful, and polished selves.

If we’re not, we turn to comparison.

We compare ourselves to a past version of us:

The one who hit the gym consistently, stayed on top of everything, seemed happier, or had it “all together.”
(Conveniently forgetting that version of us still had struggles, insecurities, and doubts.)

Or we compare ourselves to a future version of us:
The one we imagine will finally be perfect—totally confident, effortlessly organized, universally liked, and immune to flaws.

And when we fall short of either of those versions, we don’t respond with kindness or understanding.

Instead, we turn on ourselves.
The judgment kicks in.
The criticism gets louder.
The shame settles in.

But here’s the thing: judgment, criticism, and shame? They don’t help. They don’t motivate.

What they do is keep you stuck—caught in a loop of dissatisfaction, feeling like you’re never enough.

What if the goal isn’t to chase some idealized “best” version of you?

What if the most empowered, fulfilled version of you is the one who embraces the messy, imperfect, human version of you that exists right now?

The version of you who:

❤️Understands you are worthy and lovable as you are.

❤️Strives for growth without attaching your worth to a specific outcome.

❤️Knows that being human means experiencing ups and downs—it’s not a flaw, it’s life.

❤️Can meet yourself where you are in this season of life and still move forward with compassion.

Because the idea of being your “best” self all the time? It’s an illusion.

What would it look like to stop chasing that illusion?

To take one step today toward seeing yourself as whole, right now?

You don’t need to wait for a “better” version of you. You’re already enough.
