“In the course of 1 calendar year, I took a new job with a much larger law firm (with a bigger time commitment) and moved half way across the country to a new city, very far from my family and friends. I was very excited about these changes, but my life felt like it was in shambles. I was struggling to manage priorities, fit all my commitments into my schedule (without cutting out sleep, the gym, and everything else I do to take care of myself), and find time to explore my new home. I loved what I was doing for work but felt that I couldn’t get the new job to fit into my life — and I desperately wanted it to. As soon as I found Jenn’s LinkedIn profile, I knew her assistance was what I needed to sort out all my obligations. The biggest transformation in my life from coaching has been recognizing my actual priorities and what that means from my career. I used to measure success in my career by how I ‘stacked up’ against other people. If I wasn’t the best at some particular skill or wasn’t the go-to associate for a particular matter, I felt inadequate. This led me to take on additional work, both billable and non-billable, to make sure that I stood out — which ultimately sucked all the time out of my days. By working through this with Jenn, I learned that my highest and most important priorities are NOT work-related — my #1 aspiration is to fill my life with meaningful personal relationships, including with colleagues, but mainly family and friends. This was not compatible with the hours I was working, and I was able to reframe the way I measure my success in a manner that recognizes both my successes and skills at work but also my contributions at home. By working with Jenn, I transformed my priorities regarding my career from ‘always impressing others’ and ‘performing A+ work 100% of the time’ to working efficiently and effectively, only on projects that interest and fulfill me, with the ultimate goal of getting home and UNPLUGGED every night and protecting my personal life.”

“I was looking for help on how to ‘survive’ the learning curve of being a first-year associate (e.g., time management skills, how to gain confidence in my research and writing, how to accept feedback, and avoid feeling stressed/anxious at work, etc.). I am so much NICER to myself! Jenn taught me how my catastrophic thoughts were causing my anxious feelings. I would go to the worst case scenario when a partner would reach out with feedback and felt very defensive. My automatic thought was - ‘I am in BIG trouble, they are never going to want to work with me again!’ I would freak out when I didn't know how to do an assignment, so I was always on high-alert. Jenn encouraged me to be kinder to myself and overall more curious about my thoughts (e.g., ‘I wonder why I am feeling like this?’ ‘do I need more information?’, ‘don't all first-year associates get red ink all over their drafts?’ etc.) This tool of slowing down and thinking new thoughts has given me the confidence to get my work done -- with more accuracy, in less time -- because I feel comfortable asking clarifying questions, admitting what I don't understand, communicating about when I have too much or not enough work, and recording my time accurately. These are just a few of the things I've learned from Jenn!”

“[I was looking to change] literally everything. I had a very negative mindset and used to completely believe that my circumstances dictated how I felt, which made my life an unbearable rollercoaster. My relationship, career, health, and self esteem were top priorities. … Coaching impacted every area of my life slowly and then all at once. I am now better able to control my reactions, I feel so much more empowered due to the way I can work through my thoughts and feelings now, and making a list of actions I have control over is my favorite thing now ever. Also, I stopped catastrophizing as much and everyone noticed the difference to the point my interactions with others improved and they felt better as well. I LOVE how I show up now in my life, for myself, and others. Being able to say that’s a thought and do I want to keep it has changed my life!”

“I wanted help developing a roadmap for my professional growth and someone to help keep me accountable. I have also found that trying to attain one gold star after another has not been a satisfying path for me and wanted someone to help me reconsider my approach and way of thinking. Coaching helped me adopt a different mindset, be more intentional and flexible, and let go of many of the activities and attitudes that were not serving me. I learned to base my decisions on what will help further my goals instead of to avoid discomfort.”

“I sought coaching for support with juggling working as an associate, parenting 2 toddlers, and wanting to build a business in the pandemic. I was having a tough time with it all. The biggest transformation for me was learning to recognize and celebrate all of my accomplishments (even the ones that felt small) and to stop being so hard on myself. I was very accustomed to immediately looking for the next thing after I had accomplished something without even really acknowledging that I had accomplished it. I also often believed that what I was doing wasn't good enough and that I could have done things better. I decided to leave the law to go full-time in my business, and [Jenn] helped me tremendously with that decision. In all of [my work with Jenn], I'm most proud of that decision because a lot of my identity was tied up in being a lawyer. Leaving felt like breaking free of that and becoming just me. Coaching helped me make decisions to create a life that I love living. [Jenn] challenged my beliefs about what was possible for me. [Jenn] gave me tools that help me to be a better wife and mother. [Jenn] helped me to see and acknowledge all the amazing things I was already doing in my various roles. [Jenn] taught me to support myself in my efforts, and consequently, I'm more willing to try new things, even when I don't know how they'll turn out.”

“I hired Jenn to help me become a confident attorney. I was just starting my BigLaw job, and I was so scared that I was going to do everything wrong! With Jenn’s support, I quit my BigLaw job less than a month after passing the Bar Exam. The decision not to be a traditional lawyer was easy, but actually walking away was hard. Jenn made it more doable. And I am still so incredibly proud of myself for taking that action. (I’m also very proud of myself for being able to say aloud that I’m proud of myself. That took some work!) Jenn manages to always meet me with compassion, which is new to me as I have always been used to tough love. She helped me shift my inner critic to be more of an inner cheerleader.”

"The biggest transformation I experienced from Jenn's coaching is learning how to set intentions before walking into a situation, whether that situation is a client or colleague meeting, my annual review or a review of someone else's work. By setting intentions, I have a guide for my interactions, and I have time to reflect on my thoughts and feelings before I interact with others, and this has helped immensely."

“I would recommend Jenn (and have already) to any of my female attorney colleagues, at my firm or others, who seem overwhelmed by job responsibilities, including both associates and shareholders. Jenn is uniquely gifted at identifying both the root cause of why some circumstance is causing you overwhelm, which helps you learn to cope in the future, and also finding really simple solutions that may not have come to mind but make your life so much easier. I always feel more equipped to solve my current problems and avoid future problems after each session with Jenn.”

“Anyone of any age or occupation could benefit from the skills that Jenn teaches! Jenn's background as a partner at a law firm was an excellent resource for me (because she understands the perspectives and dynamics of associates and partners) and so, specifically, any associate could really benefit from working with her!”

“I would recommend [Jenn] to any woman lawyer who is feeling unsettled in her life or career. [Jenn has] a way of helping people get to the root of what they want and what they believe is standing in their way of getting it, which allows them to be able to challenge those beliefs and get more of what they want.”

"[I would recommend Jenn to] anyone who is looking for support, exactly where they are at. Jenn will meet you where you are, there is no expectation that you should be any further along. And that is a big, big gift.”

I would recommend Jenn to “[a]nyone who is seeking growth and open to new ideas on how to find it. I think [Jenn] provides a great balance of direction but also honoring that each person is who they are and has to choose the ideas and approach that resonates most with them. Having worked with other coaches, I felt [Jenn] excelled in presenting new ideas without undue pressure.”

“I would recommend [Jenn] to anyone who feels that they constantly lose control. That despite having everything they sought or wanted (for instance accolades diploma the perfect house etc), they still feel unhappy. People who want to stop feeling pushed around by life. People who want to realize how much more control they have over the quality of their life, their work, their thoughts. I think anyone can benefit from coaching and especially female lawyers due to the socialization and legal field.”

"[I would recommend Jenn to a]ll female attorneys. I think there are systemic obstacles set for women in biglaw that frequently paint us with broad generalizations. It's important to examine the way we face those obstacles."
