Survival School for Associates

Attn: Associates and Incoming Associates

Law school does not teach you the soft skills you need to survive being an associate.

It doesn’t teach you…

How to manage your calendar and your to-do list when you’ve got multiple projects from multiple partners with multiple intervening deadlines.

How to manage the constant barrage of emails.

How to become a person who has to keep track of their time in 6 minute increments or how to do it in a way that ensures you are getting credit for the work you are doing.

How to set boundaries in a work environment where there are a million things to do all the time and where you are always being pulled in a million different directions.

How to stay confident in a work environment where the learning curve is steep and you get very little feedback.

How to manage up - how to handle relationships with the people giving you work.

I don’t expect you’ve gotten or will get training on these things from your firm either. And without these skills being an associate is so much harder than it needs to be. It can feel impossible to survive, much less thrive.

I want to help you with all of these things. All of the things I wish someone had taught me earlier in my career. All of these things that I had to figure out on my own.

Join me for a free monthly webinar series that will cover each of these topics.

First up is Managing Your Calendar and To-Do List - October 17, 2023 at 1pm Eastern.

Sign up here: https://mailchi.mp/jenndealcoaching/survival-school-for-associates. Replays will be available for those who sign up.

Don’t want to wait that long? I’ve also put together 6 Survival Skills for Associates that will give you a tip in each of these areas that you can start implementing now. Grab them at the link above.
