Their discomfort is not your responsibility.
You are responsible for how you show up. That is yours to deal with.
Sometimes other people are going to be uncomfortable with how you show up.
Especially when the world has told them over and over again that you are supposed to be:
Polite.
Thin.
Well behaved.
Nice.
Quiet.
Agreeable.
Pure.
Delicate.
Modest.
Selfless.
Nurturing.
Deferential.
Self-sacrificing.
Selfless.
Sorry.
Perfect.
Humble.
Grateful.
Productive.
Sweet.
Maternal.
And then you don’t show up in the way that they expect.
That discomfort?
That is theirs to deal with.
A ❤️ note to you: If even the idea of other people not liking you or being upset with you or disappointed in you makes you anxious… of course it does. If you’ve been socialized as a woman, you’ve been taught that your worth depends on other people’s opinions and that it is your job to make them comfortable. None of that is true. But as long as you believe that, you’re going to continue to hold yourself back. You’re going to continue to live a life that isn't yours. I can help. To get started living for you instead of other people, send me a DM or sign up for a free call with me at jenndealcoaching.as.me/consult.
