Calendar Out of Control?
Staring at a calendar packed with back-to-back meetings? Welp. There goes the to-do list for the day. It’ll be waiting for you at 9PM tonight. Yikes.
If you’ve ever felt like your whole day gets swallowed by meetings — only to end up playing catch-up at night — you’re not alone. It’s exhausting, and it’s not sustainable. The pressure to “keep up” can make it feel like you’re always one step behind.
But what if it didn’t have to be this way?
Start with small shifts to take back control of your calendar and shift from reactive mode to proactive mode.
Here are some strategy shifts:
💡Audit Your Calendar: Look at your meetings — which ones are “energy drains”? Can it be an email? Can it be shorter? Can you say no?
💡Block Priority Time: Set aside 1-2 hours of work time each day. Treat it like it’s the most important meeting of the day (because it is).
💡Master the “No, but…”: Decline with grace. Propose an alternative, but protect your energy and your time.
Here’s the mindset shift: You do have control over your calendar. And you have GOT to stop telling yourself you don’t. It doesn’t always feel like you do (and often it can be super uncomfortable to exercise that control), but it’s true. You just have to decide to act on that control. One small decision at a time.
Imagine it with me: You regularly wrap up your workday on time. Most of your evenings are yours again. No frantic “just one more email” energy. You also get to work with more focus, and that focus means better quality work.
This isn’t about working harder or even being "more efficient." It’s about working smarter — and protecting your energy. When you lead your calendar instead of reacting to it, you show up for your work (and your life) with more clarity and less stress.💡
