Perfectionism + Procrastination
If you tend to procrastinate because you think you are “better” at getting things done at the last minute or you’re “better” at working under pressure…
Consider whether you are avoiding doing the thing because you are worried it will be less than perfect, but when the deadline gets close, you allow yourself to drop that expectation.
(And of course the fear of not getting the thing done ramps up. And someone who doesn’t get things done when they are supposed to isn’t perfect either.)
How much time would you get back if you were able to drop that expectation of perfection entirely? To be okay with A- or B+ or B work from the outset. How much better would your work product actually be?
(I hate to break it to you, but you are likely doing that level of work or worse already because of the procrastination - you just allow yourself the excuse that you didn’t have enough time.)
A ❤️ note to you: If you like the idea of having more time back and creating better work product, but the idea of intentionally doing A- or B+ or B work makes your skin crawl, I hear you, and I see you. I was you. I can help you get more time back, do better work product, and do it in a way that feels aligned with you.
