The Great Unlearning
I love to learn.
I’m good at it.
I bet you might feel the same way.
High-achieving women often do.
It’s part of how we’ve achieved so much.
You know what we are not as good at?
Unlearning.
That’s what my own coaching journey has been about.
That’s what it’s about for my coaching clients.
Unlearning.
The learning starts early for women.
You learn quickly (and incorrectly) that your worth as a human being depends on you being:
Polite.
Conventionally pretty (but not vain).
Thin.
Well behaved.
Quiet.
Agreeable.
Pure.
Delicate.
Modest.
Smart (but not too smart).
Selfless.
Accomplished (but not too accomplished).
A caretaker.
A peacekeeper.
Deferential.
Self-sacrificing.
Sorry.
Perfect.
Humble.
Grateful.
Productive.
This learning does not serve you.
It was never meant to serve you.
It was meant to serve someone else.
Not only does it not serve you, it doesn’t serve the people around you.
It doesn’t serve the world.
It keeps you from recognizing your own worth.
From understanding that you have an innate value that is not dependent on anything other than your existence.
From being yourself.
From taking up space.
From taking risks.
From succeeding by your own definition of success.
From resting.
From experiencing as much pleasure and joy as is available to you.
From changing your life.
From changing the world.
I don’t want that for you.
I bet you don’t want that for you either.
If you don’t want it, the key is in the unlearning.
Are you ready to start unlearning? To start deconditioning?
Are you ready to live a fuller and bigger life than you can even imagine is possible right now?
I’m ready to show you how.
I’m beyond ready.
I’ve just been here waiting for you to get curious.
To take that first step.
