Getting Better at Time Management
I know you want to be better at managing your time. So your career feels more fulfilling and more sustainable.
I want that for you too. It’s why I do the work that I do.
But to be better, you have to be willing to say “no” to some things. To create a schedule and stick to it. To prioritize some things over others even when it feels uncomfortable. To stop procrastinating as much. To start delegating more and more effectively.
The problem is that you think you can’t do any of that. You think it is impossible. You can’t stand the thought of what other people might think or say. Or how it’s going to feel. Or you keep telling yourself you don’t have time to make changes or to learn new things. Or you believe it is just too hard.
But it is 100% possible to get really good at managing your time, to set boundaries, and to have a sustainable career. Even in the legal industry where the unwritten expectations often include 24/7 availability, always saying “yes,” and always prioritizing someone else’s work and schedule over your own.
I get it. I’ve been in your shoes. I used to feel like I had no control over my own time too. I was wrong.
You deserve to feel good about how you spend your time. And you can.
Pick one small change to get started.
Set one boundary.
Say "No" to one thing.
Block off one hour on your calendar every week.
Pick up an app that can help you with time blocking.
One manageable step that moves you towards change. Whatever works for you. There’s no right answer.
You already know what isn’t working. What isn’t working is continuing to tell yourself that you can't do anything differently.
What’s one thing you want to focus on doing differently?
